Mount Kenya Academy is a co-educational school with primary and secondary sections, offering both day and boarding options.
Located in a picturesque and tranquil setting outside Nyeri town along the Nyeri-Kiganjo road, the school provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya.
The school’s Admission Committee is committed to enrolling students who are well-rounded, ambitious, and seeking a solid academic foundation that prepares them for the world and a life of service.

Our Academic pathways
Mount Kenya Academy provides a comprehensive education that extends beyond the classroom. We offer diverse academic pathways, a unique exchange program with Westminster School USA, and special programs like coding and robotics, while also engaging in community outreach programs, such as microfinance. In addition, our well-rounded education includes a wide range of extracurricular activities, such as sports and music, to help students thrive personally and socially.
8-4-4 Primary and Secondary
The Kenyan 8-4-4 curriculum is enriched with programs in French, IT, Environmental Science, Visual Arts, Music, Drama, and Sports.
Cambridge Assessment International Education
We offer the Cambridge Assessment International Education up to A-levels, providing an internationally recognized qualification.
Competency Based Curriculum (CBC)
Enriched CBC from Grade 1 to Grade 7 (Junior Secondary), providing a holistic education that emphasizes skills and knowledge acquisition.
Special Programs and Extracurricular Activities
We offer a wide variety of special programs such as Robotics and Coding, alongside an extensive range of extra-curricular activities like Sports, Clubs, and our Music program.

Great History Of Our Campus
Mount Kenya Academy was started in 1982 by Mr. & Mrs. Charles Mwangi at the Nyeri Kindergarten site in Nyeri town. The school moved to its present site in 1983.
Ever since the first MKA class sat KCPE examination in 1988, the Junior School has ranked among the most successful schools in Kenya on KCPE performance.
