Mount Kenya Academy, Nyeri Shines at Rift Valley Schools Open Championship

Over the weekend of May 25th and 26th, 2024, Mount Kenya Academy’s debate team participated in the inaugural Rift Valley Schools Open Championship, held at Greensteds International School in Nakuru. This event brought together 11 schools and 34 teams, making it a highly competitive and enriching experience for all involved.

Despite this being our students’ first foray into the world of debate tournaments, their dedication and hard work paid off spectacularly. Leading up to the event, our team guided by the debate patron, Mr.Wawire  engaged in rigorous training sessions. 

Our students’ prowess and preparation resulted in an outstanding haul of 19 medals and 6 trophies. Additionally, we were honoured with the prestigious ‘Spirit of the Tournament’ Award, recognizing us as the best school overall. This accolade is a testament not only to our students’ debating skills but also to their sportsmanship, teamwork, and enthusiasm.
