Guiding and Counselling are an integral part of our School.
Here at Mount Kenya Academy we are serving our community as a leadership resource center in line with our vision and mission and are very fortunate to have the support of a well-established Board and to operate as a not-for-profit organisation.
This ensures that we remain affordable to the vast majority of our prospective parents and are able to wholly direct the school fees into educational initiatives. We pride ourselves on our highly visible core values which include a Christian Heritage, excellence, talent nurture and integrity amongst others.
Building on the strength of twenty years of our Junior School we started our Senior School in 2004 and have grown into a successful and respected institution with well-grounded community and family values. Set on a still expanding campus just a few kilometers from Nyeri and 45 minutes from Nanyuki with beautiful views of Mount Kenya we offer a safe and focused boarding experience for male and female pupils from 12 to 18 years of age to study either KCSE or IGCSE syllabuses leading to university entrance or the work place either here in Kenya or overseas. Our experienced and well-trained teaching-staff deliver both the academic and pastoral curriculum with support from many others including full-time and resident boarding staff and school nurse and our school Chaplain.
Our pupils are encouraged to attend our ‘Grace’ Chapel situated next door within the grounds of our Junior School and there present readings and musical recitals. Our vast Music programme consists of both examined and non-examined opportunities and has a proven track record. Our sports department prepare and train all pupils in a variety of sports to compete against both local and Nairobi schools. We have overseas trips and an annual overseas exchange programme with Westminster School in Atlanta, USA. Our co-curricular programme includes an active Model United Nations (MUN) club, Scouts programme and many other clubs and societies. All of this is bolstered by a well-established community service programme aimed at helping the wider local community through a series of educational projects together with a very successful Presidents Award scheme leading to Gold level every year.
Mr. Alfred Lumire – Principal.
