Mount Kenya Academy’s Participation in the Presidential Awards-Kenya Program
At Mount Kenya Academy, the development and excellence of every learner is a top priority. In order to achieve this, the school has designed programs that help learners discover their true potential, embrace important values, and understand their role in society and globally. One such program that has proven to be a success is the Presidential Award-Kenya (PA-K). As part of the program, students have the opportunity to progress through different levels – Bronze, Silver, and Gold – gaining important life skills and experiences along the way.
The Presidential Awards-Kenya is a nationally recognized self-development program that empowers young people with essential life skills to create a positive impact on themselves, their communities, and the world. Established in 1966 by the nation’s founding father, The Late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, it is affiliated with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association, which operates in over 120 countries globally.
Our learners recently embarked on an exciting journey through the President’s Award-Kenya (PA-K) program and successfully completed their Bronze expedition. This outdoor adventure has not only allowed them to develop positive ethical values but also to engage with the locals and gain a deeper appreciation of their important roles in society. Although the expedition presented its share of challenges, the learners collaborated and supported one another as a team, resulting in an unforgettable and rewarding experience.
Our participation in the Presidential Awards-Kenya reflects our commitment to providing our learners with opportunities for self-discovery, personal growth, and community impact. We are proud of the achievements of the recent cohort of students who successfully completed their Bronze expedition. As an institution, we remain dedicated to nurturing the leadership skills of our learners and will continue to encourage more of them to participate in the program and achieve their Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards.
