Parents Advisory Committee Chairman’s Remarks

We appreciate the support of parents, current and former. It makes our work very easy. Your decision to bring your child here is because you want to give your child quality education. These young people are our future and from reports we receive on our alumni’s success and achievement, all I can say is you all make us really proud.

With God’s help we look forward to a bright future of MKA.

You must take an active role in a school where your children spend most of their growing time. I believe the reason you chose MKA is because you want to give your child quality education.

Remember that these children are precious.  Looking after them is hard work but when we work closely and speak in one voice, we can achieve success.  We want our children to grow like Jesus did in Luke 2:52: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

The Mount Kenya Academy lower primary has over the years grown to be the epitome of educational excellence. We have made it our core business to mould a bold and confident generation that has skilled, independent thinkers. This is in line with our vision to be a leadership resource centre for Africa and beyond for generations to come.

The rolling out of the Competency Based Curriculum was the culmination of what Mount Kenya Academy has always stood for. We are striving to maintain the development of the seven competencies in each pupil; ensuring that they are ready for the 21st century challenges. We are determined to nurture a generation that can read and understand the times that we are living in.

We have a dedicated team that has made a deliberate effort to embrace and nurture different gifts in the young pupils. We engage children in meaningful learning while always promoting the social and emotional development of each pupil. The school environment reflects the pupils’ needs and interests. Music, sports and art have always been key at Mount Kenya Academy. We have nurtured pupils who have gone on to be movers and shakers in the world. The learning areas have been taken a notch higher at Mount Kenya Academy lower primary by borrowing the best from other curricula in the world.

We are literally striving for the PEAK!

Stacey Orangi writes;

I finished my Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in Nov 2013 at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa, after which I proceeded straight into my Master of Public health specialising in health economics at the University of Cape Town. I hope to complete my studies towards the end of this year. I then plan on my return to Kenya after 6 years where I can start building on my career. I am grateful to the entire MKA community for being a family away from home.

I definitely look forward to visiting the campus after quite a number of years and seeing the changes in Mount Kenya Academy.
